Project @ Vico

My project here at VICO is to write an application that tracks an accident/incident report. It must have a search feature and a follow-up procedure. The design/model is already made.

I spent my first two weeks exploring Microsoft Sharepoint. It’s a really useful web application where teams/companies can collaborate and share documents. In my opinion, it can fulfill the requirements of the project but my mentor said Sharepoint is still new and has a weak point. The weak point is that I need more time to open up the API (Application Programming Interface) since it’s not flexible enough for further developments.

After that, we decided to use the Java Web Framework: Webwork. I have to study HTML, PHP, CSS, SQL, JSP, Java, and also Web tools like Jetty, Struts2, Spring, Hibernate, Sitemesh, Freemarker, etc. I’m using Eclipse as the IDE.
